Since Dr. Frederick Cottrell’s invention over a century ago, Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs) have been the primary technology for controlling particulate emissions from industrial processes. ESPs can be designed to meet stringent particulate emission standards with minimal pressure loss and high equipment reliability for extended operating runs between shut-downs.

Our ESP’s have achieved emissions less than 10mg/Nm3 and operating runs as long as 5 years without an unplanned shut-down – a track record that is unparalleled in industry.

ESP Operating Principle

Particles suspended in a gas enter the precipitator and pass through ionized zones
around the high voltage discharge electrodes.

The ionized field around the discharge electrodes charges the particulate causing it to
migrate to the grounded surface of the collecting electrode.

The charged particles amass on the collecting electrode where
the charge drains to ground.

Harmony offers two distinct ESP models to cater
to the unique and exacting requirements of each
industrial application. These two designs
differ in the configuration and layout of
the internals and the rapping systems.

The Harmony-E™ ESP is ideal for applications that require high availability, extended operating runs between shutdowns without compromising on performance.

The Harmony-E™ ESP is equipped with roof mounted MIGI rappers. Since these rappers are outside the gas-stream, maintenance can be performed with the unit online. In addition, the MIGI rapping system allows for dynamic control over the rapping intensity and frequency. This ensures minimal re-entrainment, which is the key to achieving ultra-low particulate emissions.

The heavier rapping density inherent to our Harmony-M™ ESP means it is suited to applications with sticky or dense particles.

The Tumbling Hammer rapping system provided with the Harmony-M™ ESP is a robust, heavy duty design. Although this system includes mechanical components within the gas-stream, key components such as the geared rapper shaft drive motor are located outside the casing to improve reliability and ease of maintenance.

Harmony’s ESP come equipped with either our High-G™ collecting electrode or our S-Type collecting electrode.

The High-G™ electrode is our top of the line electrode. The High-G™ electrode incorporates our traditional “Optimum Precipitation Zone” feature that aid in efficient particulate collection and minimizing re-entrainment. With a high degree of shop assembly, the High-G™ ensures consistently high quality and reduced field erection times.
Our S-Type collecting electrodes provide robust performance at a reasonable cost. Featuring a panel type construction the S-Type electrode is composed of panels that are rigidly bolted to top and bottom beams to make the collecting panel more dynamically responsive to rapping.
